USING NURSERY RHYMES TO TEACH

In this nursery rhyme, children waggle one index finger as they sing the words in red.

In this nursery rhyme, children can

  • pretend to be the king
  • show 3 fingers when the number 3 is mentioned. 
  • pretend to play the fiddle (similar to the violin) when the fiddlers are mentioned
  • pretend to play the cello when the celloists are mentioned

Children change their actions according to the verse they are singing.

  • Conditional construction: (simple present AND simple present) + (imperative)

  • Verbs of action (clap, stamp, wave, turn, shake)

  • Parts of the body (hands, feet, arms, hands)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Repeat the above verse, but change the words in pink as follows:-
